Welcome to the ETD Admin Forum. You are invited to help us improve ETD Admin by posting, commenting and voting on ideas.
All we require is your name and a professional (work) email address then you are ready to submit, review and vote. Our ETD Admin Forum is open for all ETD Admin users.
Tips:
- For customer support or to report a bug, please visit support.proquest.com
- An idea can be deleted if you’ve submitted it and no one has voted or commented on it.
We will read every post, although we may not be able to respond to every idea or comment submitted. This information will provide our development team with valuable input on priorities for ETD Admin improvements.

Add a a saved default feature in the "Fields to include in the report" section for running reports.
I would like to be able create a saved configuration option in the report section, so that I don’t need to select the fields I need each time I run a report

Add "please don't copy/paste from PDF" note near Abstract text box
If you copy/paste the abstract from a PDF, it includes all the line breaks. If the abstract is on more than one page, it copies the page number(s) too.
My library uses ExLibris Esploro, and it's set up that when we deliver something to Proquest, it imports automatically to Esploro. So, if the abstract is full of line breaks, we have to fix them by hand at some point. If we can have the student take care of that instead by telling them not to copy/paste from the PDF, would be nice.
Edit to add: This is the page I…

Allow administrators to add to the Department dropdown menu
At the moment, as far as I can tell, administrators have to contact ProQuest to add tot he Department dropdown menu that students choose from. It would be useful to be able to add options there myself.

Allow administrators a window of time to undeliver
If an administrator accidentally delivers a document without making some required change, it would be useful to have a window of time in which they are able to undeliver the documents themselves without having to contact ProQuest ETD

Allow changes to degree name after work is submitted for publishing
Allow students and administrators to change the degree name if a wrong degree is selected.

ETD Admin Reports - Schedule reports
As an ETD administrator, I would like to be able to run reports on a regular basis automatically on a schedule that I set in ETD Admin.
Call to Action: ETD ADMINS please comment and add how you would want this scheduled reports feature to work for your needs! :)5 votes -
Allow items from a single order to be shipped to multiple addresses
Currently, all bound copies ordered during the ETD Admin submission process must be shipped to the same address. Authors often wish to order copies for family members, academic advisors, etc., and have them shipped directly to the recipient.

Add more fields to 'reports' options
It seems reasonable that any field related to the given ETD should be available to reports, but personally, abstracts and admin notes would be the fields I would find most useful.

Allow Administrators to see uploaded copyright forms on the Summary Page.
It would make it easier for me to make sure that students are submitting their supplemental copyright forms, if I could see it from the summary page instead of hunting through the tabs.
5 votesthink what you are requesting is that that status of copyright permissions forms be presented in the ETD Admin dashboard for your review. This is an interesting idea!

Allow students to communicate with the ETD Administrator within the ProQuest ETD Administrator
Currently students need to direct questions regarding requested formatting changes outside the ProQuest ETD Administrator via an external email account. This requires the administrator to look in two different places (the PQ Administrator) and their email account to properly respond to formatting questions.
5 votesThank you for the idea. Where in the workflow would you want to discuss with the administrator?

Send Notification to Authors Prior to Embargo Lift Date
Authors often wish to extend their embargo/delayed release while they work on publications, but forget to contact ProQuest or their Grad School before the expiration date. As an administrator, it would help the students if they could receive automatic notification shortly before the embargo lifts

Option to turn off individual email notifications when titles delivered to ProQuest
On behalf of Harvard University: we would like an option to turn off the individual emails that are sent to the primary administrator when each dissertation submission is successfully delivered to PQ, or otherwise just make this a digest instead of individual emails for each author.

Allow Changes to ETD Orders Before Submissions Are Delivered
Once an order has been submitted through the ETD site, payment additions cannot be made.
For example: If a student would like to add additional print copies to an order to get the multiple product discount, or change book sizes from 6x9 to 8.5x11 (or visa-versa), add Open Access or Copyright, the ETD site is not setup to allow these order changes.
The only changes that can currently be made to ETD orders is the removal of items already listed on the order to process credit card refunds.
Enhancement Request: Allow orders to be changed or edited by the student…

Allow students self-service option to modify ordered copies / copyright fees
Students can currently email or call ProQuest to modify their orders (for instance if they didn't order enough copies the first time), but it would be really helpful if some type of "modify order" button could be integrated into their dashboards for two specific cases:
When students decide to change their copyright status, they're often frustrated they can't just go in and do this or have us do it. Since this change would be made prior to delivery at the end of the semester, allowing students to have a self-service to add or remove the copyrighting option would give them…

Include more fields in search criteria
It'd be great to be able to do more precise searches in preparing reports. If we could set up reports to just display on the screen, this would be a good way to do regular searches too. These are the fields I think could be useful, and some ideas on what I'm thinking for search mechanics:
Any value/Yes/No, could be in a box like Status and other criteria in Step 2 of the report creation:
* Did the student enter an ORCID?
* Is there an author's note to admin?
* Are there supplementary files?
* Is there an embargo?…

Change Department list to a drill-down section (and maybe include degree?)
Giving students a long list to choose from, especially when they're in that "Oh please I just want to be finished" stage of degree completion, is not very friendly, if we can have a drill-down instead. This would be especially useful if, as at my institution, some departments in different schools have similar names.
If we can mimic the way Qualtrics handles drill-downs, you just create it with a simple .csv file, which you just edit and re-upload to make updates. It creates however many levels as there are columns in the spreadsheet, but if you just want one big…

Separate field for author name suffixes
Currently, when Joe Schmoe Jr. submits his work, there's a good chance he puts "Schmoe Jr." as his last name, meaning that when I try to search by last name later on, "Schmoe" doesn't find him. A separate field for Jr./III/Sr./etc would be very helpful.
