Just share your metadata with Worldcat Discovery and EBSCO Discovery Service. That's all. It would be a help to those of us who subscribe to PQDT and a non-ProQuest Discovery Service. We pay a great deal to have access to the collection. Why not make the records findable? Why not make dissertations findable and purchasable for libraries that don't have a PQDT subscription. That could be another stream of income.

  2. Improve ExLibris Esploro integration

My institution has a setup where when we deliver a submission through ETD Admin, it also sends the work, and some metadata, to ExLibris Esploro. Unfortunately, the info it sends still needs a lot of work in Esploro, especially for those of us who make MARC records for the submissions.

Obviously, there will always be issues, because Esploro's set up isn't perfect. But if there were a few internal notes fields for Administrators--ones we hopefully could map to some Esploro fields--that'd be helpful. Being able to export those fields in reports would be great too.

    FTR, the fields that come…

  3. Allow administrative files to be ingested into IR

During set up, we were advised to use the administrative files as a location where students could upload unredacted, full versions of their ETD (in the event that their work contained copyright material for which they did not have permission to publish online). However, we stumbled upon an issue where administrative files are not able to be deposited into our institutional repository (Esploro platform). Since our IR is the authoritative record for these works, not ETD Admin we would like to see all content that a student submits through the ETDAdministrator to be populated in our local IR records.

  4. Include the Publication Number in a submission's XML data

Emily Kilcer ekilcer@albany.edu from the SUNY University at Albany has requested that a submission's Dissertation/thesis number be included in the XML file we deliver to their institutional repository. They need a number/identifier that ties all their systems together. Between the ProQuest database, their Alma catalog and their repository, the first two have the Dissertation/thesis number associated with their content but they don't have it in their institutional repository.
