  1. Rich Text Editor

    It would be nice for the email composer/text editor in the Register Decisions section to be updated to be a rich text editor that would allow for at least bold, underline, list-items (bulleted/numbered), and the insertion of hyperlinks and images.

    Basic formatting tools would be great!

  2. Allow deletion of records of certain status

    It's not uncommon for students to stop a submission in progress, and then when they return, start a new submission rather than continue the old one. It's also not uncommon, at my institution, for students to submit items that actually are not theses/dissertations (we have a different submission mechanism for those). Being able to completely delete these records (a check-box validation could be included) would be very handy.

  3. Create ETD Submission Windows

    We have very strict dates during which students can submit their thesis or dissertation each term. It would be nice to be able to set up submission start/end dates so that students can submit their ETD only during that term's submission window. However, students who already made a submission within the window but require additional changes outside that window, should be able to continue making updates until the admin approves the ETD.

  4. Allow Checklist to be Viewed by Students

    Currently, there is a “View Checklist”, which is only visible by an admin. I have to complete this checklist before I can “Accept” a dissertation for publishing. It would be nice to have this checklist also student-facing. The student shouldn’t be able to make edits, but should be visible for viewing purposes, so they can see what information I need and what has been collected (or completed) so far. If institutions do not want the students to see their internal checklist, they should have the option (under “Manage Site”) to simply turn it off.

  6. Include the Publication Number in a submission's XML data

    Emily Kilcer <ekilcer@albany.edu> from the SUNY University at Albany has requested that a submission's Dissertation/thesis number be included in the XML file we deliver to their institutional repository. They need a number/identifier that ties all their systems together. Between the ProQuest database, their Alma catalog and their repository, the first two have the Dissertation/thesis number associated with their content but they don't have it in their institutional repository.

  8. Allow note/s to be added to reports

    There's information that would be easy to get during the evaluation/approval process, that you need later on, so you need to look it up again. Being able to export the notes field, or better yet, adding one or more notes fields specifically for reporting purposes, would be so helpful.

  9. Automatic delivery of scheduled ETDs

    Allow Administrators to schedule delivery of etds and have them sent to ProQuest automatically on the scheduled date.

  10. Add more fields to 'reports' options

    It seems reasonable that any field related to the given ETD should be available to reports, but personally, abstracts and admin notes would be the fields I would find most useful.

  11. Accommodate pre-2005 Submission & Acceptance Dates

    In the ProQuest proforma for thesis submission and acceptance, the date boxes only go back to 2005. I could not enter my date of 1999.

  12. Status for inactive Admins

    I would like to remove inactive Admins (left university system, no longer in role, etc) from the available admins to assign ETDs to, but I can continue to see the history of the work that those inactive Admins performed.

  13. Leave Feedback Icon issues on a small screen

    I am currently using a laptop with a small screen, and frequently have two or more windows visible at one time. With the reduced window width, the leave feedback icon blocks part of the view of my application.

  14. Provide more information on Creative Commons options to help Authors and Site Administrators determine which CCs are appropriate

    Creative Commons licensing can be very confusing for Authors. Having additional information to explain the various licenses, as well as university recommendations (if any), would be helpful.

  15. Make tags visible to my whole team.

    I use the ‘tag’ feature to identify different graduation terms and those ETDs that should not be published until a later time. These tags make my work and groups of submissions easy to organize, but others in my office cannot see these same tags. You need to make the tags visible to all administrative users at one school so we can work together.

  16. Allow Administrators to see uploaded copyright forms on the Summary Page.

    It would make it easier for me to make sure that students are submitting their supplemental copyright forms, if I could see it from the summary page instead of hunting through the tabs.

  17. Allow students to communicate with the ETD Administrator within the ProQuest ETD Administrator

    Currently students need to direct questions regarding requested formatting changes outside the ProQuest ETD Administrator via an external email account. This requires the administrator to look in two different places (the PQ Administrator) and their email account to properly respond to formatting questions.

  18. Assist in discovering relevant works, citations

    Add support for a citation networking tool that would aid me in my discovery and authoring process.


    • use filters to identify relevant citations

    • visualize citation network to show where my works are cited, what works are relevant to my studies

    • be able to export network information for standalone use

  19. "At A Glance" Summary Of ETD

    It would be helpful to have a feature that provides a bit more information than an abstract, so that I can determine if a dissertation or thesis is of interest to me without needing to read the entire publication.

    Would contain things like
    - chapter summaries
    - thumbnails of tables or figures
    - key components/details of the publication
