Patrons can return books early
To allow return of book earlier after download, so that the book can be available for other users.
Each ebook will have a specific number of concurrent user access. However, if a user downloads a book, this is tied to a fixed number of days, before the book can be free-up for other users to access. The function should allow users to return the book earlier, so that others can also access the eBook earlier.
Thank you all for your feedback on this enhancement request! We will keep this in mind for future consideration.

It is a great inconvenience not to be able to return the book once it has been consulted or if it has been lent by mistake.
It would be a much needed improvement. -

This should be improved.

Given the large quantity of titles that are only available as limited licenses, it is critical that we enable users to return early. Our library is working to educate campus about how to manage limited licenses by not downloading the book, but this information is very difficult to disseminate. ProQuest needs to enable this function for their users, it is very odd that this is not already built into the system.

This is critical functionality, already employed by competing ebook vendors. If there are multiple options, I would choose an ebook hosted by a platform that allows early returns over one that doesn't.

It's very easy to check out a book without realizing it. It's critical to allow early return.

I just sent a request to customer support for this very thing. For books that allow for a limited number of checkouts a year, being forced to keep a book for longer than is needed uses up non-linear days needlessly. Not to mention, when a library owns only 1 or 3 copies, it would be nice to return the book early so others may be able to use it. I am aware that as administrators, we can control checkout loan lengths and even the ability to download. However, this is functionality that services like OverDrive provide and seems should be standard.

Agreed! Especially important for our popular items.

My clients , some librarians, request the same. If an library administrator could reset the rental via LibCentral even if the user couldn't operate it, it would be very helpful for users.

It would be great if users could return books when they were done with them, instead of waiting to the end of the loan period, enabling other users access them sooner.
