Patrons can sign up for alerts
Ability to sign up for notification when an ebook is available again, especially for one user titles.
One user ebooks should allow users to sign up for notification when an ebook is available again on the platform. Useful tool especially for the academic institution that uses the text in the curriculum as recommended reading where we know demand is high.
I am happy to announce that the Wait List feature is now available for libraries to enable in LibCentral. Once the feature is enabled, patrons are able to sign up for alerts to be notified when books become available.
You can find more information about how to enable and use the feature in this Support Article: Ebook Central Admin: How do I enable the Wait List for my Ebook Central titles?
Thank you all for your valuable feedback and insights that helped us make this feature intuitive and user-friendly.

Any updates on this? It seems that this should be a basic functionality when users are presented with artificial physical limits - the least we could do is to copy all similarities to the way physical loans work, including a wait list or availability reminder. Ideally, if users have an account in Primo you might work out some way of interoperability there in terms of user data/personal data?

It should be possible to "return" downloaded books at any time - before the due date!

My experience with running a reservation queue on another platform was very poor and I ended up disabling it - the queue overloaded and users could lose their slot in the queue if the book became available at a time they weren't available (1 in the morning for instance). I find that a combination of tightly controlled Extended Access, paired with "Preserve reader access for one user if multiple copies of a 1-user title are owned" and "Do not allow downloads when only one copy of a 1-user title is owned" works much better for access.

This would be a helpful feature to add. Our other major ebook platform, EBSCOhost, offers this feature. We would like to see ProQuest Ebook Central offer it too.

Hi Rayna,
we highly support this idea, and also Myee Gregory's question for the option to join a reserve queue. Not all titles we purchase are avilable to more than one user, so a waiting list option would be strongly appreciated from our students and researchers. -

Hi Rayna,
Just wondering if you have an update on this item? And there was a previous suggestion to join a reserve queue as is standard in digital library platforms. Will this be part of this feature?
Many thanks! -

Currently if a library user wants to borrow a book that is on loan, they have to periodically return to the library to see if the book is available. On most platforms you join a reservation queue for an item that is on loan and get a notification when it is available. You can also see where you sit in the queue (eg. 3 other users before you so item available in 2 months). This is a much better user experience, as otherwise we may have users drop off and not bother trying to borrow the item.
