Notify library and patrons when books will be removed from EBC subscriptions
When books are scheduled to be removed from the Ebook Central subscription contact both the library with the list of titles currently on our patron's book shelves that will be removed, and contact the patron so they know that the book will not be available after a certain date. The patron should then be given options, e.g. how to save their notes and annotations, how to contact their libraries to request that perpetual access be acquired so they don't lose access to their existing notes and annotations, etc.

We have many professors that "hope" to make use of some of the ebooks for their classes - put them into their syllabus and lesson plans - and then suddenly find their resource is gone.
Sharing the expiration date associated with the books we purchase would REALLY help professors and librarians alike.

We had several instructors panic the first week of fall semester when they found we no longer had access to the unlimited user titles they had literally built courses around. It left faculty extremely upset with both the library and ProQuest.
The library doesn't necessarily know which ebooks are used in courses, so we can't always notify individual faculty that specific titles will be removed. And providing a general list won't always get the message to the specific faculty who need to hear it.
It would aid MANY patrons if ebook records included an expiration date on each title expected to be removed (preferably with a 6-month or longer lead time so faculty can plan their courses when access changes are expected).
