Allowing only a specific email domain for account creation
Allowing only a specific email domain (the one of the institution) for account creation (via IP)
Thank you for your suggestion for improving Ebook Central. We will keep this in mind for future consideration. In the meantime, please continue to vote and comment with ways this functionality might help your experience.

When a user creates an Ebook Central account, it should possible to validate the account only if the email/username includes one or more specific strings in the domain. The administrator in LibCentral should still be able to create a user account without the specific string(s) in the email/username domain.

You can currently add an optional (or mandatory) field to the request form within the custom text settings. We ask for their University ID number which allows us to look them up on the LMS.

If this is acted upon, please make it an option, since not all schools host email accounts for students. Outs doesn't, so this would make it very difficult for our students to make a purchase request.

This is a good idea - but I think it needs to be optional. For instance, we have students on short courses who aren't given a university email address, but we still want to receive their requests. So we'd opt to keep things as they are.

Purchase requests can now be made from any email address. We would like to exclude (requests from) email addresses that are not within our university email domains, in other words only allowing requests from users who have a university email address.
