Make information on Native American's less biased
I was going to use this page to begin a conversation with my fourth grade students about American Indians that were living in Iowa before the White Settlers stole their land. This page mentions how many White settlers were killed in one instance, but makes no mention of how many Native Americans were killed or forced to leave their land because of the White settlers.
On another page in the Iowa Native American sections it also mentions that many Iowa Native Americans work in successful casinos today, but makes no mention of the poverty that is rampant in Native American Settlements because of U.S. policies past and present.

The CultureGrams editors have reviewed the observations and made changes to the text. Please see the detail below:
Fixes include:
- Added more context about the forced relocations and deaths of Native Americans.
- Kept the sentence about the massacre but provided more context that represents the Native American perspective
- removed mention of the Native-run casinos and replaced with a more general sentence about the major challenges Indigenous communities face in Iowa. The revised sections were pushed to production in January 2021.
