  1. Provide automated holdings updates for EBSCO

EBC allows for automated holdings updates in OCLC Collection Manager and it would be very helpful to have the same service for EBSCO holdings management. EBC customers use different knowledge bases for discovery and partnering with EBSCO would be helpful for maintaining holdings accuracy.

  2. Username Login Prompt

Include a prompt on the login page that helps a user remember that their username could actually be their email address. Too many users forget their username (especially over the summer break) and then create new accounts and are shocked when they cannot find their bookshelf. Having some kind of prompt is ideal.

  3. LibCentral title reports enhancement request - total user access

For limited user access titles (1U or 3U licenses) we often want to know the total user access we have currently, and as far as I'm aware there's no way to extract this from the current admin reports.

Generating title reports, there is no total user access information. There are "copies" and "access model" but there is no way to easily calculate the total access from these columns.

For example we have a title that shows as 4U access when you search in LibCentral. However the same title on the title report has:
    Copies - 3
    Access model - 1-user,…

  4. Retain and provide usage for full calendar years

This idea is closely related to another that address availability of 2018 usage. It is very important for subscribers to have monthly usage totals for titles for a full calendar year in order to have complete and accurate usage counts. When titles with usage are deleted or omitted from a report based on the run date of the report rather than retained and provided for the date range selected, valuable product history is lost – history that customers use for making renewal and/or purchasing decisions.

  5. Add selected titles from a list to your cart before ordering

Currently you can only add an entire list to your cart. Our institution would like the ability to add selected titles from each list to a cart in order to place an order. Currently, Ebsco and Midwest both have a function where certain users have the ability to suggest purchases and one user can actually place the order from the other users lists/carts.

  6. Remove requirement for patrons to log in when downloading a DRM free title.

I would like to see the removal of th requirement for users to login on title that are DRM-free. I see this as removing an extra step and relieving some of the frustrations that some of our users experience.

  7. Encourage/incentivize use of MathML to ensure better access for persons who are blind

More actively encourage or incentivize publishers to ensure that mathematical content in their e-books are accessible to persons who are blind or visually impaired. This can be done by including equations formatted as MathML (rather than just text or images of equations) and by including detailed descriptions of graphs as alt-text. Since eBook Central is situated between users and publishrs, it is in a strong position to help advocate for this type of improved accessibility.

  8. Add Readership Level to DDA profiling

We would like to be able to profile by readership level, so that it is easy to filter out non-academic content which we do not want to acquire.

  9. Pages "printed" to PDF should have a downloaded filename that reflects the actual book page numbers and not the fake internal page numbers.

Pages "printed" to PDF should have a downloaded filename that reflects the actual book page numbers and not the fake internal page numbers. For instance, if I "print" to PDF page 155 of an example book, the filename that is downloaded is "ShapeshiftersBlackGirlsandtheChoreographyof...----(Pg172--172)" because if you count all the non-numbered pages like the front cover, this would be page 172 of the resulting full PDF. But this leads patrons and us librarians to waste a lot of time double-checking that we really got page 155 instead of 172.

  10. Add document type 'Textbook' to available search refinements, and within usage reports.

It would be great to be able to quickly refine the owned content list to textbooks only, and from there extract a spreadsheet of your textbook model titles with relevant information. It would also be great to report on textbook model usage separately and quickly.

  11. Inter-library loan of titles across consortial institutions

Would like to ‘share’ copies of ebooks with other institutions via inter-library loan. Of course, we don’t want to give our last copy, but it seems like we should be able to share our licenses because we are not creating additional copies. Ideally, this would work the same way returnables work. It’s also important that this not only work with Alma libraries, but libraries with a variety of ILSes.
