  1. Add Boolean language and truncation to search

All search boxes should support Boolean AND, OR, and NOT, as well as truncation. Currently there is no way to exclude words from a search, or combine synonyms or alternate forms of a word into a single search.

  2. Option to set default Advanced Search parameters that stick

The Advanced Search screen should allow you to set default basic search parameters that stay in place as long as you want them to, even after you log out and log back in. I never want to search for ebooks, yet I have to choose "paperback" and "hardcover" for every search in order to avoid them. It would be great if each user could set defaults for binding format, language, price range, currency, publication dates, publishers to exclude, etc., that would stay in effect for every search until they decide to change it.

  3. Option to exclude self-published titles from search

There should be an easy way (such as a checkbox) to exclude self-published titles from all searches. We are generally not interested in self-published works, but they often dominate our search results. At the very least, we should be able to exclude certain publishers by default (such as the largest self-publishing imprints, CreateSpace, AuthorHouse, Lulu.com, Nobel Press, etc.). This can currently be done by filtering search results, but it’s not at all practical because it has to be done with every single search, for each individual self-publishing imprint.

  4. Organize items with separated headings for better readability

Instead of combining all the item information in one long line. Readability would improve by organizing and separating each component with a heading and/or its own line. For example:

    Title:
    Author:
    ISBN:
    Publisher:
    Price List:
    ...etc.

Better organized title data is a part of the title browse page redesign which will get implemented in later this year.

  5. Search should ignore all punctuation & non-alphabetic characters

Currently the inclusion of basic punctuation such as colons, apostrophes, semicolons, etc. often cause searches to fail. This is especially true when copying titles from a web page, and is even worse when using the Quick Search box. If the searches just ignored all punctuation and non-alphabetic characters, this would not be a problem.

  6. Increase Invoicing Options when using API

Currently the invoicing options presented to us with ALMA/Oasis API integration are title by title (POL Invoicing), Invoice By Shipment, and Invoice by Fund. Our current workflows often mix funds and we normally place multiple orders in a day which has forced us into title by title invoicing. There should be a way for Oasis to limit invoicing to specific orders or other options to prevent a library from having to drastically altering ordering processes to utilize API ordering.

  8. Allow administrators the ability to create / amend / delete new fund codes etc.

It would be good to have the ability to create, amend or delete funds or other fields ourselves rather than having to request the amendments each time something changes.

  9. Show VAT and discount in the price for e-books

Other suppliers clearly show what the cost price, VAT and total price (including discount) are for ebooks. It would be good if OASIS could do the same.

  12. Add an alert when items are moved to 'Authorize orders'

It would be very useful if some sort of audible alert or 'pop-up' (Dawson's have this functionality) could be added as soon as items are moved to 'Authorize orders'. Currently it is necessary to log in to check. Thanks

  13. Vertical Split Screen Option

A vertical split screen, as opposed to the current horizontal split screen, would better utilize the computer monitor's screen space. I could scroll through my list on the left, while easily viewing the order or title information on the right. Currently, I have barely enough room on the screen to view two titles on the top split and still see the order/title information on the bottom split.

    Hi everyone

With the recent release of the new checkout experience, we are excited to announce that we will now begin scoping out and implementing a new search browsing experience. This new experience will make much better use of screen real estate and allow you to browse titles in a much more user-friendly manner. We have designed and tested the new concept and received lots of positive feedback from our users.

This will be a large project and will likely take 5+ months to build. I will keep you posted as we reach milestones.

  14. Provide a more robust keyword search.

I usually use Amazon to "discover" titles then try to find them in Pasis

  15. Share lists between librarians

We would like to be able to work cooperatively on shared lists within our library.

  17. Allow Administrators to create new users

It would simplify things immensely if admins could add new users to their library without having to make the request directly to customer service.

  19. Fix the Search

The Quick Search should work as well as the Advanced Search, and both need better ranking of results so that the titles I expect to see are at the top of the page.

We have a number of fixes in mind which we’re reviewing with our engineering team to get a sense for scale.

  20. Add Gale platform

Please add single-title purchasing of ebooks on the Gale platform.
